intro

i've started this blog to get myself writing. about what? anything and everything i happen to think of (hence the "random" part of the title). i find it very hard to write. i'm always afraid of what my writing says about me. i want to be good about the craft, to pay attention to the details and the subtle nuances of the language i use. but i'm afraid of making mistakes. because of that, i have a tendency to not write anything at all. i'll start something, think about it a little too much, and then scrap the whole thing. so now i'm forcing myself to write and not care so much. i'm sure i'll make mistakes, but better here than anywhere else, right? (although i suppose everything online now is public, permanent, and is very likely come back to haunt you one day) so here goes. i doubt anyone will read this, but if you do, i hope you enjoy it.
